Our School
We are delighted to welcome you to the website of St. Joseph’s National School, Killala. Located in the town of Killala, our school is a caring and inclusive community where every child is valued, encouraged, and supported to reach their full potential.
At St. Joseph’s N.S., we are proud to have a dedicated team of six teachers: four classroom teachers, an ASD class teacher, and a Special Education Teacher (SET). Together, we work to create a nurturing and engaging learning environment that supports the diverse needs of all our pupils.
Our school is guided by a strong sense of community, respect, and a commitment to providing high-quality education. We value the partnership between home and school and believe that by working together, we can achieve the very best for every child.

🌍 St. Joseph’s National School, Killala and the Green Flag Programme 🌿
At St. Joseph’s National School, Killala, we are proud participants in the Green-Schools Programme, operated by An Taisce. This environmental education initiative encourages students, teachers, and the wider school community to work together in making our school a more sustainable, environmentally conscious place to learn and grow.
This year, we are thrilled to have been awarded our Green Flag for Global Citizenship – Litter and Waste. This prestigious recognition marks a significant step in our Green Schools journey and builds on our earlier work in tackling litter and waste management within the school. Through student-led initiatives, awareness campaigns, recycling drives, and community engagement, we’ve not only reduced our environmental impact but also strengthened our global understanding of how our actions affect the world around us.
Our Green Schools Committee, made up of enthusiastic pupils and supported by our dedicated staff, has worked tirelessly to lead the charge. From classroom lessons and school-wide clean-up events to promoting reuse and responsible consumption, we are proud of the commitment and creativity shown by our entire school community.
We look forward to continuing our journey toward sustainability and are excited about what the future holds for environmental awareness at St. Joseph’s N.S., Killala.
